Hi and welcome to my blog...
Website Launch Celebrations
Hi there!
I am very much looking forward to reading the "Love Stories" of engaged couples who enter this competition.
Whether they met online, at a function, work or simply queuing for fish and chips! What the attraction was or perhaps wasn't initially? How their love blossomed and the engagement proposal. Every love story is different!
I'm hoping the decision won't be difficult for me. A hopeless romantic and believer in "Happily Ever After" - minus the small irrations.
Good luck to all that enter!
How do I capture a love story?
Well you don't need no glamourous location, thats for sure!
Just as every wedding is different (it really is) and so is every love story. I love to hear them, its a perk my job.
How people display their love to each other isn't always obvious either. It could be a touching the shoulder, a glance or eyes welling up with emotion. Weddings after all, are very emotional days.
They are filled with love. I can feel it. My job isn't just capturing the events, its telling their story in the way that they want it to be told. I adapt my style accordingly.
Through reportage and contemporary fine art photography, I notice smallest details.
In the selection of images below you may wonder why is the man holding up his hands? I can't tell you, it's not my place to say. The image is unique to them, just as all wedding photography should be. This is one of my favourite love stories - it really ought to be a film.
Hi,
Covid has changed so many of us. Not just in loss of loved ones, but changed some of the ways we currently live. All my weddings were cancelled and I watched in horror as the death toll rose. Every loss was one too many.
During lockdown, I decided to study for a Masters degree in Photography. A little self-indulgent perhaps? It certainly kept me occupied. I have cried many tears of frustration at not seeing friends and family, as I expect you have. It's been difficult.
I appreciate that whilst the final victory flag has not been raised, we must learn to adapt. A positive is, I have managed to photograph the weddings that were cancelled, minus one, pending a new date. So "Belinda James Photography" (which also did editorial and advertising) has its own dedicated wedding site, "Veils and Confetti".
I have adapted the contract to adjust it to make it covid-friendly. (I don't think anyone could have forseen its impact) None of my wedding couples lost any money and I was appalled to hear of couples who had, not just with wedding photography, but with venues and suppliers.
Veils and Confetti isn't just a business, it's a business with a big heart.
So it's a bye for now and hope you enjoyed reading my 1st blog.
